Hello,
Eden High School has a rich history in the Niagara community. What started out as a private Christian college
in Niagara-on-the-Lake in 1945 has grown into a public school at the former
Lakeport Secondary School site in St. Catharines with
a current enrolment of over 1000..
Principles of equity and inclusive education set the
foundation upon which we develop positive school climates. Eden honours the unique experiences, cultures, viewpoints, and
talents that make up each one of our students and staff members. Our strength
lies in the diversity of these traits. To this end, we strive to remove
barriers so that every student has the opportunity to succeed personally and
academically in a positive climate that respects and nurtures students of all
backgrounds, identities and personal circumstances.
Eden is a distinctive school. The Spiritual Life Centre offers chapel,
grade retreats and so much more. Students from all over the region apply to
Eden (see under the Guidance tab) and parents/families/carpools are responsible
for getting students to and from school. There is no school bus
transportation. Eden’s school uniform is
outstanding and just went under a year-long review by students, families and
staff to ensure that it is current, comfortable and affordable.
We offer courses at the Applied/Academic level in Grades 9
and 10, and College, Open, Mixed and University level in the senior grades.
Eden offers the Specialist High School Major program in four areas: Business,
Construction, Sport and Automotive Technology.
Our graduates take gap years for mission work or travel, attend colleges
and universities, start apprenticeships and enter the world of work with skills
necessary for happiness and success.
Our pursuit of excellence is evident not only in academics,
but in the arts and athletics as well. We
offer visual arts, drama, vocal and instrumental music as well as media
arts. Eden High School athletics are a
team in every sense of the word as they push themselves to compete against the
best in Ontario. Our clubs are diverse
and student-centered and our partnership with families through School Council
creates understanding while challenging ourselves to be our best. Monthly Coffee-with-the-Principal
opportunities allow for a two-way exploration and better formulation of Eden’s
goals.

Sharon Burns
