National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Today, September 30, is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, previously known as Orange Shirt Day.
Today we honour the First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children who were taken from their families and forced to attend residential schools. We remember the children who never returned home, and we recognize the survivors , their families, and the generations who continue to be affected by the residential school system.
Wearing an orange shirt today is one way to show support, but reconciliation should not be limited to one shirt or one day and is about more than remembering the past. It is also about what we can do today and moving forward. We can listen to and learn from Indigenous voices, challenge stereotypes and misinformation when we encounter them, learn about the Indigenous peoples and histories of the land where we live, and think about how our own actions can contribute to respectful relationships.
At this time, we ask everyone in the school to pause for a moment of silence to honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families, and their communities. Thank you. As you move through today, we encourage everyone to listen, learn, reflect, and consider the role each of us can play in reconciliation.

SLC Updates--The First 25
There will be no First 25 until next Monday due to the Grade 9 retreat. Join us for two video stories that will feature our faith in action! We meet at 8:15am in the chapel which is located in the cafeteria.
Life Groups
There are no life groups for the rest of this week. We will reconnect next week!

Black Students Association
Attention all students who identify as black, join us at lunch today in Rm 112 for the Black Students Association. This is a wonderful way to meet other students, plan events and have fun. See you at lunch in Rm 112.
DECA
Meeting for all registered DECA Competitors in Room 207 at lunch TODAY. If you can’t make the lunch meeting, pop in to see Ms E at another time during the school day TODAY. We are finalizing who is competing in November! And have some details to share with you.

Cross Country
Attention all Cross Country athletes, this is a friendly reminder to come see Mrs. Kostesky for your Jersey if you have not already, before our first invitational tomorrow at Christie Lake! See you at Practice after school!
Swim Team
Reminder that all new swimmers are to be signed out for 230pm to meet at the pool. Returning swimmers will join next week.

There will be a girls rugby 7s information meeting Friday at lunch in the main gym.
Girls Flag Football
Reminder there is a final girls flag football tryout today after school on the field.
Fitness Room on Wednesdays
Every Wednesday the Fitness room after school will be reserved for Women. Whether you're an experienced lifter or stepping into a weight room for the very first time, Wednesdays are set aside specifically for female students to train in a comfortable, supportive environment. No experience needed—come work out with friends and crush your fitness goals. See you after school on Wednesday.

String Ensemble
Do you play violin, viola, cello or double-bass? Would you like to join the Eden String Ensemble on Wednesdays after school? Please see or email Mr Moccio in room 156 for more information. At this time, you must own or rent your own string instrument and having experience is required. This group will be preparing for our Winter Concert in December.
Eclectic Tendencies
Are you a Grade 11 or 12 singer? Do you play instruments as well? Eclectic Tendencies is looking for new members this year. Auditions will take place at lunch time next Monday, October 5 and Tuesday October 6 at lunch in room 156. Please see or email Mr Moccio for more details.
Attention Indigenous students in Grades 9–12!
Are you interested in getting involved, building connections, and having your voice heard? Applications are now open to become an Indigenous Student Rep for the 2026–2027 school year. See the flyer outside of room 226 for the QR code to get the application form. Applications are due October 8.
We’re also inviting any First Nations, Inuit, or Métis students to connect with our school Indigenous Council. We meet regularly to plan events, learn about opportunities, build community, and support one another. If you’re interested in either opportunity—or just want to learn more—please see Ms. Speck in Room 226 or contact Ivy Jones, our Indigenous Student Trustee. Everyone is welcome, and there’s no pressure to commit—come find out what it’s all about!
DRAMA - “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” - Auditions
Auditions are starting next week for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow! Auditions will take place over 2 days - Monday October 5th, and Wednesday October 7th. You only need to sign up to audition one of the 2 days - each day will have a limit of 30 spots. The auditions will be from 3-5pm each day.
A number of people will be asked to attend CALLBACKS on Wednesday, October 14th, to finalize roles and assess vocal ability for main characters. Callbacks will also be from 3-5pm. If you wish to be considered for an acting role for this year’s production you MUST attend one of the 2 preliminary audition dates and the CALLBACK date if necessary. There will be no exceptions. Please do not ask to come late or leave early - we are considering only committed applicants for these roles.
Come to the auditions ready to participate in energetic drama games. Dress appropriately and bring something to write with. You do not need to prepare any material. Sign up sheets and information will be posted on the door to the drama room! Come out and be part of the LEGEND!
Fundraising
We meet Thursday mornings in the library, come out and join the fun!
Yearbook
Period 4 teachers still have your yearbooks waiting for you to pick up if you were away last Friday. Please ask your teacher if they have your book before coming to the office to get a book. If you have a spare, online class or co-op during period 4 you are able to pick up your yearbook in the main office from 9:30-11:00am this week. If you have friends or siblings who graduated last year there will be an email going out to them this week with instructions for pick up.
